This is an antique German Heubach character doll that was made in one of the largest sizes. He is just over 16″ in height. Unfortunately though he has been professionally repaired a long time ago and as such my price reflects this as a Heubach boy of this size would cost far more than this. He is from the collection of the late Australian Lila Rait, author of “Through the Nursery Window” but is not photographed in her book.

His bisque head is restored but has been done well. He has slightly moulded hair and blue intaglio eyes (painted and set in to give a 3 dimensional look). This painting is mostly original to his eyes. He has a closed mouth and rosy cheeks and the markings on his head are “8, Germany, 16” and when restored the restorer has been careful to keep these clear.

He is on his original bent limbed composition body that is in good condition and his stringing is good.

He comes wearing a lovely outfit consisting of a white cotton blouse with some pleats and blue accents and cordoroy blue pants, socks and lace up black shoes.

He sits beautifully and displays nicely.
