This wonderful celluloid black shoulder plate head was originally purchased in the 1980’s after a prominent doll dealer was able to purchase them in box lots from a closed down warehouse. At the time she sold both the black ones and the pink coloured ones with a limited number of these black ones.

These wonderful shoulder plate heads are ideal to make up into dolls and I have seen a few made up in the years I have been collecting. They were made in the 1930’s era and this one is marked “Patent 266162, a Logo (T in a circle) and Made in Japan.

It measures approximately 7″ in height and is approximately 4” across the shoulder plate.

These dolls can be either boys or girls. This one has sleeping amber eyes with moulded hair painted black. She/he has an open/closed mouth with 2 painted teeth and has the holes towards the base to attach to a cloth torso.

This beautiful head is in near perfect condition with just a couple of very minor imperfections including a tiny missed area of paint on one cheek and a slight dent to one corner near the sew hole.

I have always had it displayed “as is” rather than had it made up. It did have some fine dust on it which was picked up when photographed but not dusty now!
