This is an antique doll made by the firm of Koenig & Wernicke, Germany and would date to the pre 1930’s era. She is approximately 20″ in height. She is a doll not often seen and quite a lovely larger sized doll.

The back of the head is clearly marked with K & W, Hart-Gummi, 333-10, Germany. According to my research K & W dolls marked with Hart-Gummi indicates it was made from a hard rubber material and is a durable, polished material that often resembles composition or hard plastic. As can be seen in the photos there is an area on her neck where the paint has come off but could easily be touched up.

She has her lovely original blue glass eyes that have been set stationary and may originally have opened and closed but I do not know for sure as I am unable to remove the wig. She has “real” upper eyelashes. Her open mouth reveals 2 upper teeth and a red tongue behind. Her auburn wig appears also be original and is in plaits and made from human hair. The fringe may have been cut at some time.

Her lovely toddler body is original to her and has a non working ma-ma in her tummy. It also has a red factory stamp on the back of the body. There are only minor marks relevant to a doll that was played with and her stringing is good.

She comes wearing a lovely vintage frock with ruffles. It has some minor age staining that would launder out. Underneath she has a petticoat and pants and also socks and buckle up shoes. She also comes with a lovely hat.
