This is a Norah Wellings Sailor Doll which is earlier than the Peggy Nisbet Sailor Dolls made later.

He measures in height approximately 8″ and has on his cap “R.M.S. Samaria”.

Throughout the 1920s and 1930s Samaria was frequently employed as a cruise ship. In September 1940 she took part in the evacuation of children from the UK to the US under the scheme set up by the Children’s Overseas Reception Board (CORB). It is likely this sailor was sold on the ship between the 1920’s – 1930’s period.

He is in good condition with minor fading and ageing to his cap with a couple of small holes in the black ribbon.
