ANTIQUE FRENCH JULES VERLINGUE DOLL WITH HAIRLINE – SOLD AS DESCRIBED – 17″

$150.00

This is an antique French doll that does have damage and as such priced accordingly. If you are looking though for a cheap antique French doll she will be a nice addition to any collection.

She stands in height 17″ and was made by Jules Verlingue in France and would date to around 1915.

The bisque socket head is quite coarse and she has a fine hairline crack that extends from the top of her forehead down to her nose. The head is marked on the back with “Petite Franchaise, J V, Anchor Symbol, France, 5 D, Liane”. She has her original blue glass eyes that are stunning and retains most of her eyelid wax. She has multi stroked eyebrows and dark stroked upper and lower eyelashes. Her open mouth reveals a row of moulded teeth and her lip painting is lovely and bright along with nicely blushed cheeks. Her mohair wig is a homemade old replacement wig and the pate is also non original.

She is on her original composition French body that has part of the paper label still intact on her back. There is half a finger broken on one hand and an area on the back of one leg that has been “restored” a very long time ago with wear to the back of the other. There is a crack down one leg and normal wear and tear from a doll that was obviously played with. The body is strung well though and any damage and wear and tear is hidden under her clothing.

She comes wearing a blue vintage petticoat and pants trimmed with lace and over the top has an antique frock that has been made for her that is in aged condition. She also has socks and hand made leather shoes that button up.

Despite her faults this is a cheap French antique doll.
