RARE AUSTRALIAN MUSICAL DOLL ATTRIBUTED TO STERNE – 22″ HEIGHT – CIRCA 1940’s
This is a beautiful Australian Doll and considered quite rare as they are not found often. It is believed to have been made in the 1940’s by Sterne. She stands in height 22″.
She has a composition shoulderplate head and composition arms and legs. The head itself is in beautiful (almost pristine) condition with nothing to mention other than some eyelashes missing on one side. She has lovely vibrant blue eyes that open and close with ease and the typical shark like teeth that Sterne dolls had and a red tongue behind. Her blonde saran wig is original to her.
The cloth body is in good condition with some rust marks showing at the back and the cross winder key missing off the clock work mechanism but it is in working condition and when wound plays “Rock-A-Bye-Baby”. This cross winder could be sourced through a clock repairer.
She has been dressed in a vintage pale blue frock trimmed with lace and pink ribbon. Underneath she has a petticoat to match and has been given a lovely pink and blue bonnet that matches well along with pink lace trimmed socks and vintage button up shoes and pantaloons.
This gorgeous example of our much loved Australian dolls is just ready to display.
