RARE 27″ GERMAN ANTIQUE J.D. KESTNER #12 WITH MAMA PULL STRINGS

$1,000.00

This doll is considered RARE and was made by J.D. Kestner in Germany around the 1900’s era or slightly earlier. I have only ever seen one other example and she was priced much more than my asking price.

She has a bisque socket head in the rare mould 12 and is marked with this along with “11” at the top of her head. She has her original glass brown sleeping eyes but she is missing her eyelid wax and has a slightly cross-eyed look which I actually like as think it gives her character. She has raised multi stroked eyebrows and delicately stroked upper and lower eyelashes as well as the usual red accent dot in the corner of each eye and her nostrils. She has an open mouth with a row of teeth. Her rosy cheeks are lovely and bright. There is no damage to her head at all and only the odd minor mark that is barely worth mentioning.

Her wig is made from human hair and is antique and may be original to her and has lovely ringlets. She has an antique cardboard pate also. These have been lifted to stuff the head to protect the eyes in transit.

She is on her original wooden and composition body with a “mama” voice box built in which still works by pulling the side strings that have a glass bead attached to them. The body was recently re-strung so will last for many years to come. The body only has the normal wear and marks from a doll that was obviously played with and has some chips to the composition on her hands.

She comes wearing an antique fine cotton frock with pin tucks and underneath she has a vintage full length petticoat, more modern pantaloons, socks and vintage soft boots that would have originally been toddler shoes.

She is a rare doll that is not seen often and an asset for any antique doll collector and is ready to display “as is”.

Shipping will be extra and unknown until fully packaged and will need to include full insurance. The doll will be packaged extremely carefully.
