This doll was purchased from an antique doll dealer in the 1970’s and it was sold to her last owner as a German FM Schilling doll but I am unsure if this is correct or if it is a German doll that was marketed under Patent Washable Dolls. She is dated to pre 1900. She is being listed for half of what was originally paid for her.

She is a very large 24″ in height (just over) and is in good solid condition.

She has a shoulderplate head made from a composition papier mache type and has stunning stationary bulging blue glass eyes. She has her original blonde mohair wig that is sparse in places. She has multi stroked eyebrows and delicately stroked upper and lower eyelashes along with a lovely red painted mouth. All the paintwork is original. She has ageing to her face and some spots and may clean up a little better using face cream which is ideal when rubbed carefully on with a soft cloth. Her arms and legs are more of a heavier bisque or plaster composition with her moulded socks and heeled black shoes painted on. There is a minor chip to the composition at the front base of her shoulderplate.

She has the usual gauze type body that these dolls had that is in good condition and is excelsior (wood) filled.

She comes wearing clothing that is made from antique fabrics and consists of a blouse, skirt and pantaloons. She also originally came with a silk frock that is in aged condition with some shredding and a matching silk bonnet. These were original to the doll and require some work. The ties need putting back on the bonnet and I believe the other ties were in her hair originally.

These dolls have a look of their own and it is always lovely to have diversity within a collection of antique dolls and this large girl displays beautifully.

This doll also comes with the history of who she belonged to which was a girl by the name of Miss Pereyrene Lily Waddle who originally lived in Launceston, Tasmania and was the last of the family and died in 1990 at the age of 92.
