FABULOUS KONIG & WERNICKE GERMAN DOLL – CIRCA 1930’s – 19″

$325.00

This doll was made by the German firm of Konig & Wernicke that were in existence from 1911-1935. This particular doll is often sold as being from the 1920’s and composition but I believe it is more likely from the 1930’s era when they were making dolls for the Schildkrot turtle company.

When I originally purchased it it was sold as composition but I believe it is an early hard plastic.

She stands in height approximately 19″ and marked on the back of her head with KW, 221/46. She is in lovely condition and these dolls are just gorgeous and getting much harder to find.

She has lovely brown glass sleeping eyes that not only open and close with ease but also flirt from side to side. She has lovely long eyelashes and a curly black wig. Both of these could be later replacements but I am unable to tell for sure and only enhance her. She has an open mouth with 2 pearlised teeth and a tongue behind. Again perhaps the lips have been re-painted at some stage but I cannot be sure and again only enhances her. She has been exactly “as is” apart from the clothing from when I purchased her over 10 years ago.

The body is in beautiful condition with a non working ma-ma. There are some paint rubs in the moveable areas of her head and limbs. She is strung well.

She comes wearing a more modern outfit that consists of a gorgeous Peter Rabbit print smocked frock trimmed with lace with matching pantaloons. She also has socks and 1950’s shoes.

This gorgeous girl is display ready and an overall quality doll.
