I originally purchased this wonderful toddler sized antique jacket in the USA but have decided I will not use it. It would date to somewhere between the 1900’s – 1920’s era and would fit a large doll of 28+ inches in height and would be ideal for a large antique chubby baby doll.

To the best of my knowledge the outer fabric is called grosgrain and basically is a hard wearing fabric with lines throughout it and it is likely this jacket was home made. It has ageing as to be expected from a garment of this age but I have never been game to soak it but have no doubt it could be soaked lightly to brighten it up. Apart from a small area on the top centre right hand side panel I could see no holes and this small patch is more like it’s shredded than an actual hole. There is also the same type of wear around the bottom of the cuffs on the sleeves. The collar has hand embroidery in cream around it and it does up with a hook and eye and pearlised type buttons. The lining of the coat is beautiful fine cream silk and in beautiful condition with only the odd age mark.

From under arm to underarm across the front it is approximately 10.5″ and from top to bottom it measures approximately 17″.

Whether you used this on a doll or just to display on a model it is a lovely antique jacket.
