This is anntique Character Doll in a petite 8″ size. The socket bisque head is marked with P.M. Grete, 8/0, DEP. She has been in my own personal collection for over 15 years. She was made by the Porzellanfabrik Mengersgereuth porcelain factory in Germany somewhere between 1908-1930.

She has an open mouth with 2 teeth and a tongue behind. The original blue glass eyes used to be sleeping eyes and could be fixed but are now stationary set (done prior to me owning her). She has multi stroked eyebrows and delicately painted eyelashes. The bisque is pale in colour and a little “splotchy” for lack of better words. The head has no damage. The blonde wig is a replacement.

The composition bent limbed body is original and has minor wear as she appears to be a doll that was loved and played with.

She wears an antique gown trimmed with lace that is in beautiful condition. Underneath she has a nappy, socks and shoes.

Also included is an antique dolls wooden cradle on rockers that measures approximately 30cm x 23cm x 13cm and this doll has always lived in it since purchased. It is in good solid condition and the wood has a lovely grain to it although I do not know what it is. Again this is a played with item and has some minor old damage such as some pieces splintered off but not too noticeable as it was obviously re-stained during its lifetime. This would date from somewhere between 1890-1920.

Also included is a quilt that came with the cradle originally so believe it was purpose made for it. It has been hand sewn and probably by the original owner. It has minor wear, ageing and fading.

This lovely doll also has her own celluloid parrot toy. Good condition but the stick is loose.

As all of these items have been displayed together so are being sold together.

They are a wonderful lot and display together beautifully.
