ANTIQUE MORIMURA BROS (JAPAN) DOLL WITH FAULTS AS DESCRIBED – 18″
$125.00
This is an antique doll made by the firm of Morimura Bros. in Japan and would date to around the 1915 era. She stands in height 18″ She is priced cheaply as needs some TLC.
She has a bisque shoulder plate head with clear markings incised on the back of the head. The bisque has no damage and just has some tape and glue residue around the top of the head. She has her original brown glass sleeping eyes and an open mouth with some teeth. Her facial features have been delicately hand painted. She has her original wig that is made from human hair and her original cardboard pate.
The oil cloth body is original to her but the arms are definite replacements and she would have originally have had bisque half arms. Someone has added replacement leather at the top of the arms and tacked them on and could do with further securing. The half arms are composition and later than the rest of the doll and in aged condition with crazing and some paint missing. I have not removed her stockings and socks but I can see there is a repair to the left lower leg. There is however no leakage.
She is being cheaply “as is” and with some TLC she will be a lovely antique doll to add into any collection.
