This antique doll is German and was made by the reknowned firm of Schoenau & Hoffmeister. She is marked on the back of her head with “Germany, S (PB in a star) H, 914.
This doll is not as common as others made by this firm. She stands in height approximately 24”. She would date to the 1900’s era or earlier.

Her bisque socket head is free from any damage and she has stunning brown glass sleeping eyes with most of her eyelid wax intact. Her eyebrows are raised and multi stroked and she has delicately painted upper and lower eyelashes as well as the usual red accent dot in the corner of each eye and her nostrils. She has an open mouth with a row of teeth and a dimple in her chin. Her blushing has been done well and she only has minor rub marks that are barely worth mentioning. Her wig is not original but is definitely vintage and is made from human hair. Her cardboard pate may also be replaced but also vintage. Both have been removed so the head can be stuffed to protect the eyes in transit.

She is on her original ball jointed composition body that is in good played with condition with marks as expected from a doll that was played with and has repainted arms from what I can see. All her fingers are intact and her stringing is very good.

She has been dressed in a gorgeous fine antique white cotton frock trimmed with cotton lace that appears hand made along with pinch pleating in the skirt and embroidery and green ribbon accents. It does up with buttons down the back and just an antique frock like this would be in excess of $100 if you can find one. Underneath she has a more modern petticoat trimmed with lace, vest and pants along with lace stockings and antique shoes that are in poor condition with one missing the tie and one with a split down the back. She has a vintage hat made from green raffia, along with hand made velvet flowers (aged condition), ribbon and lace. This holds on with a long vintage hat type pin.

This gorgeous antique doll is ready to display and a beautiful addition to any collection.
