ANTIQUE GERMAN ARMAND MARSEILLE 390 – 17.5″ HEIGHT
$150.00
This is a German antique doll made by the firm of Armand Marseille and is the 390 mould. She stands in height with her wig approximately 17.5″. She would date to around the 1915-1920 era.
Her bisque socket head has no damage and the markings are clear on the back of her head. She has multi stroked eyebrows and delicately stroked upper and lower eyelashes as well as the usual red accent dot in the corner of each eye and her nostrils. She has an open mouth with a row of teeth. Her sleeping brown eyes are original to her and they retain the eyelid wax. Her wig is a replacement, as is her pate and there is some residue from a pate that was there previously which I had not cleaned off. The wig and pate are not glued down so I can stuff the head to protect the eyes in transit.
She is on her original composition body with the stick like legs that many of the later antique dolls had. She may have had some areas re-painted including her hands or they are replacement hands (unsure). She is strung well.
She comes in a vintage floral cotton frock trimmed with lace with an apron over it and a matching bonnet. These are in aged condition and could do with soaking to make them nice and bright again. She has vintage/antique underclothing including a petticoat and pantaloons and again these need soaking. She also has stockings and lace up black shoes.
She is a nice antique doll and priced very well.
