This doll was made by the reknowned German firm of Alt, Beck and Gottschalk in Germany around 1910. She measures in length approximately 20″ so a lovely sized character doll.

Her bisque socket head is free from any damage and clearly marked on the back of her head with “ABG, 1361, Made in Germany”. She has sleeping blue glass eyes with most of her real upper eyelashes intact and also has the usual red accent dot in the corner of each eye. She has delicately stroked lower eyelashes. Her eyebrows are multi stroked and she has the rarer pierced nostrils making her a “breather”. She has an open mouth with 2 top pearlised teeth and a red tongue behind. The colouring of her cheeks is lovely and she has nice, all over colouring to her head. Her antique wig is a replacement and suits her perfectly. It is human hair and was Made in France and still retains the tag. Her cardboard pate appears to be original. There is a small amount of yellow tape residue down the sides of her head where her original pate had been taped down. Most I was able to clean off after I removed it but it will be hidden under her wig. Her pate and wig will now be left off so the head can be stuffed to protect the eyes in transit. It is a very easy job to re-attach these using water based glue such as aquadhere and if required I can send instructions.

She is on her original bent limbed composition body with the original finish AND the original crier that is still in working condition. It is rare to find one that still works so is a real bonus to hear her cry when tipped up. The composition body has marks as expected from a doll that was played with and her stringing is good.

She has been dressed in a vintage checked frock with a vintage white over apron trimmed with cotton lace. Her fine cotton white bonnet is antique and also trimmed with lace. She has lovely knitted cream socks and more modern pink and white shoes trimmed with lace and ribbon.

This is truely a beautiful character doll that will delight her new owner.
