ANTIQUE ERNST HEUBACH 321 CHARACTER BABY WITH PIERCED NOSTRILS – 21″ LENGTH
This beautiful character baby is another from my own collection as I continue to down size and is a stunning doll that will delight any collector.
This doll was made by Ernst Heubach in Germany, Circa 1920. She measures in length approximately 21″.
The bisque socket head is free from any damage and is the rarer character baby with pierced nostrils (breathing holes). The makers marks on the back of the head are very clear. She has stunning original sleeping blue glass eyes with all of her original mohair eyelashes intact and eyelid wax. She has multi stroked/feathered eyebrows and delicately stroked upper and lower eyelashes. She has an open mouth with 2 upper teeth and her tremble tongue behind. She has lovely rosey blushed cheeks with only minor rub marks. There is a little dimple in her double chin and she has lovely exposed ears. She has her original brown wig that appears to be made from human hair but her pate has deteriorated so I will provide a newer one. The wig has already been removed to stuff the head to protect the eyes in transit.
She is on her original bent limbed composition baby body that overall is in lovely condition. There is one finger on the left hand that is missing the finger tip and also had some of the finger re-glued back on. She retains the red outlines around her fingers and toes. She has had a ma-ma but this is no longer working. Any other marks to her body are insignificant and as expected from a doll of this age.
I have dressed in her a stunning gown that is made from the finest and softest of ivory pure silk and lavishly trimmed with breathtaking cotton lace including insertions of lace and silk ribbons. It has pin tucks at the bodice and ties at the back. Underneath she has a matching silk petticoat. The gown and petticoat are in beautiful condition and would have been very expensive when purchased new. She wears a more modern pair of baby fluffies underneath also and has some vintage silk cream tie up bootees. Her cap is also made from cream silk (not as fine as the gown) and trimmed with broderie anglasie lace and a purple bow.
This character baby displays beautifully and ideal to sit in a pram or a high chair and is a quality antique doll that is dressed exquisitely. She will come with her own little teddy bear as shown in the photograph.
