25″ ANTIQUE PAINTED BISQUE ARMAND MARSEILLE 390 – NEEDS MINOR TLC

$175.00

This is an antique doll that was made by the German firm of Armand Marseille and is a large 25″ doll not counting in her wig. She only needs some minor TLC in my opinion.

She has a lovely painted bisque socket head that has no damage and the painted bisque dolls have a lovely soft look about them (similar to composition). Her markings on the back of her head are nice and clear. Her sleeping blue eyes don’t look like they have been replaced but are not sitting properly in the sockets so could do with some work. The head can be stuffed though to make them look a little straighter. She retains her upper eyelashes. She has multi stroked eyebrows and an open mouth with a row of teeth. Her wig is a replacement wig which I personally don’t like a lot and she would be better with a softer, mohair type wig. The cardboard pate is antique.

Her original ball jointed body is in lovely condition with no issues and she is strung well.

She comes wearing a reproduction frock that also needs some work. The sleeves have been cut and need repairing and the top part of the arms are a little too wide (in my opinion). The frock itself is quite lovely and trimmed with cotton lace and has an attached petticoat. She also has pantaloons, stockings and lace up shoes.

With a little work this will be a lovely large antique doll that would look wonderful in any collection.
