24″ ANTIQUE C.M. BERGMANN BBII DOLL IN LOVELY OUTFIT – AS DESCRIBED
$275.00
This is an antique doll that is not seen as often as others. She does have some minor faults and as such priced accordingly.
She is a large 24″ doll with clear markings on the back of her head. The head is marked “29 C.M. Bergmann BBII Germany.” Bergmann commissioned heads from different porcelain makers such as Simon & Halbig, Alt Beck & Gottschalck and Armand Marseille. The socket head has no damage. She has some glue and wig residue around the top of her head from where her original wig was once removed. She now has a lovely blonde replacement wig in ringlets and a replaced pate. Both have been removed to fully stuff the head to protect the eyes in transit.
Her original brown glass sleeping eyes need to be repaired and they are currently held in place with blue tak. They could either be set sleeping again or set stationary. She has some of the remains of her original mohair eyelashes. She has raised, multi stroked eyebrows and delicately stroked lower lashes as well as the usual red accent dot in the corner of her eyes and her nostrils. Her open mouth reveals teeth but they have either been painted white or have white plaster over them and could do with some minor work. Her lip painting is lovely and she has nicely blushed cheeks on her pale complexion.
Her ball jointed composition body appears to be original to her but it has had a re-paint at some time in her life and there is some wear to minor areas. The stringing is good.
She comes wearing a lovely satin mix frock that has been trimmed with lace with a lovely lace panel at the front and across the bodice of the frock. She also has a matching long lace veil. Underneath she has a half slip, pantaloons, stockings and lace up cream shoes.
This lovely antique doll only needs some minor work.
